Kiva St. Peter’s is a group of post-Confirmation youth who are engaged in a micro-finance ministry to people in developing nations. This ministry in carried out through Kiva, “a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.” Our youth share in Kiva’s vision of “a world where all people – even in the most remote areas of the globe – hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others.” Thus, in partnership with Kiva, we help provide “safe, affordable access to capital to those in need” and, in doing so, help “people create better lives for themselves and their families.” Our youth choose the recipients of the funds we loan, as well as the amount of their loan that we will take on (at present, no more than $100). Our youth also organize fundraising events to increase the funds we can loan to improve people’s lives around the world. As such, you are more than welcome to contact the parish office to make a donation to Kiva St. Peter’s.
